SingSong Inc. is a Newfoundland recording company owned and operated by performing artist Jim Payne. It was started in 1989, and is dedicated to traditional and contemporary music, story, song and dance that reflect the Newfoundland experience. The label has fourteen currently available titles, making it the largest traditional music label in the province.
For the past five years, SingSong has produced the Music at the Museum summer concert series, in conjunction with the Newfoundland Museum and the Historic Resources Division of the Department of Tourism and Culture. This series was developed by SingSong and presents Sunday afternoon concerts throughout the summer by performers of Newfoundland traditional folk music. This highly successful series has sometimes been expanded into productions for special occasions including traditional Newfoundland dance and storytelling, as well as a Christmas Mummers show. SingSong is also a sponsor of the Newfoundland Folk Music Club, a regular performance event in St. John's produced by The Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Council.
SingSong recordings are distributed in Canada by Tidemark Music and Distribution and by Camsco Music in the USA. They are also available by mail through the address at this website. Read on to find information about the new releases, recording catalogue, the artists, and reviews.
